Projected florals across the walls and floor of a NYC shoot location
Film, photo and video locations · New York City

NYC shoot locations, scouted by a crew that shoots here.

Every location comes with a tech scout sheet: power, load-in, ceiling height, window direction, sound and permit notes. Pick a few, and we confirm dates and rates within a day.

Nothing matches yet. Tell us the look and we will scout it.

Need something we do not list yet? We scout on request: Brownstones and townhouses, Warehouses, Rooftops, Prewar apartments, Penthouses, Restaurants and diners, Offices, Storefronts, Mansions and churches.

The tech scout sheet

The answers your gaffer and AD ask for, before the scout.

Listing sites run on whatever the host typed in. We walk each location ourselves and write down what matters on the day: amps, freight elevator, window direction, where the trucks go, and what the building will and will not allow.

Questions

Before you book

Does it cost anything to use FilmLocations.nyc?
No. Browsing and requests are free, and we never add a booking fee on top of the location rate. Some locations pay us a referral commission, which keeps the service free. How we work.
Do I need a film permit to shoot at these locations?
Not for the interior of a private location. You need a NYC film permit from the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment once you put equipment on the sidewalk, ask for production parking, or shoot exteriors with more than a handheld camera or tripod. The fee is $500 per consecutive 14-day period. Full permit guide.
What will you send back after I request a location?
Availability for your dates, the day rate for your crew size, load-in and power details, and any building rules that affect your shoot. Usually within one business day.
Can you find a look you do not list?
Yes. Tell us the look and we scout it, including Brownstones and townhouses, Warehouses, Rooftops, Prewar apartments, Penthouses, Restaurants and diners, Offices, Storefronts, Mansions and churches. How scouting works.
